Some businesses are afraid of innovating products or services because they don’t want to make mistake, whereas a great number of products known today and useful to the humanity were developed as a result of “mistakes”. Without a sloppy scientist, a creative Naval officer’s wife, and a hasty sanatorium chef, we might not have penicillin, the Slinky, or Wheaties today. To William Rosenberg, founder Dunkin’ Donuts, there is no person who has never made a mistake in life be it business or otherwise. If there is someone who has never made a mistake, then that person has never done anything. Recounting her experience, Arianna Huffington, cofounder of The Huffington Post says “We are not put on this Earth just to accumulate victories and trophies and avoid failures; but rather to be whittled and sandpapered down until what’s left is who we truly are.”
