It has appeared that low patronage usually experienced by local business owners, especially producers and sellers of consumable goods will soon be over. This becomes apparent based on the President Muhammdu Buhari’s resolved to overhaul various entrepreneurship policies and infrastructure in the country.
In his recent outings, President Buhari has expressed his readiness in shunning all anti-development policies in order to create an atmosphere where entrepreneurship would thrive.
According to a statement released recently by his media aide, Femi Adesina, the President said employment generation was one of his key campaign promises and that he would keep to the promise.
“With high interest rates and entrepreneurs needing trillions of naira to buy machinery, we are virtually back at ground zero as far as industrial development is concerned.”
“So, we will shun all anti-development policies and make the climate more suitable for entrepreneurs. We will create the environment for them to thrive. Generating employment was one of our key campaign promises and we will keep that promise.”
“We will no longer allow our markets to be flooded with things that we can produce ourselves. We must believe in our system. Whenever you need my intervention, please come to me.”
Buhari also said that his administration would implement essential reforms to protect indigenous manufacturers from unfair competition from abroad.
Apart from creating policies and support services that would ensure rapid entrepreneurship growth in the country. President Buhari has also emphasized the important of self-discipline, moral integrity, hardwork and innovation on the part of entrepreneurs as elements needed for entrepreneurial success.
It would be recalled that during his electioneering campaign in February this year in Aba, Abia State, President Buhari promised to develop infrastructure and encourage entrepreneurship spirit of Nigerians if given the mandate.
“We will focus on infrastructural development in terms of power and roads, which are necessary. We will also encourage the entrepreneurship spirit of the people of Aba and this zone because your entrepreneurship capability is known even beyond Nigeria.”
